Making Teams WORK

BESPOKE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

that is  uniquely different, challenging,

refreshing, motivational, pragmatic and applicable.

Camaraderie, competitiveness, humour, support, sharing, caring, communicating, team identity, pride, ownership - there are always special people responsible for optimising all these - the manager, supervisor, departmental head, or the senior person others turn to. We specialise in helping these special people. We do what’s needed: a one-off “boost”, residential courses, coaching. We listen, research and design the relevant solution.

Our Pragmatic Approach

Our purpose is to help delegates be more effective in achieving results from their teams. Programmes are designed to simulate the pressures and demands of REAL LIFE in a modern workplace. They are positioned to meet the challenges facing an organisation, so are researched to identify and prioritise those challenges. Individuals are considered as “case studies” to be worked on by themselves, colleagues and tutors. Our model is “The 7 Responsibilities of the Team Leader”. These identify what managers need TO DO to improve the motivation, commitment and productivity of teams.

Unique Tools and Methods

Scenario Analysis - we convert each delegate’s case study into a scenario to apply the 6 stepsExperiential Profiling helps delegates develop their personal projection, teamworking and communications skills and to see themselves as others see them.Unique Leadership Tasks - for delegates to practise the skills and be debriefed using the 7 Responsibilities of the Team Leader Skills and Behaviour Checklist. The "Blueprint to Effective Team Leadership" is a 21 page self study guide which we can personalise to specific rolesScenario Analysis and the disciplines of Creative and Lateral Thinking and Problem Solving and Decision Making are presented early in each programme so delegates can develop their thinking and strategic skills during tasks and case study work. All tasks are designed for "normal" people - to be enjoyed by people of all ages and levels of fitness. Thus we can guarantee two key ingredients to learning - relevance AND enjoyment, enabling events to be positioned as both developmental AND as a recognition and reward.

A Case Study - Added Value and Synergy

Our work with Cambridge University MPhil ISMM graduates aims to “translate” academically assimilated principles of leadership and management into the realities of team leadership in a commercial workplace. Follow the link for details.

Stand Alone or Added Value

As in the Cambridge ISMM example, a clear purpose of our pragmatic approach can be to add value to other leadership development. We always carefully synchronise programmes to compliment and synergise with client frameworks.

Team WORKING and Team LEADERSHIP

We specialise in TEAM leadership - in a “21st century workplace”. Delegates are given a deep insight into the principles of teamworking and receive copies of the three Team Synergy books by Rick Whitehead: “Share, Care, Communicate!”; “Experiential Teamworking Personality Profiling”; and “The 7 Responsibilities of the Team Leader”. When working with teams of managers, we focus on their TWO sets of responsibilities - as team members - developing synergy in the management team - and as leaders.

Experiential Teamworking Personality Profiling

This can be included in any programme, so that delegates develop their teamworking as well as leadership skills and are coached how - and given the resources - to apply the principles with their own teams. To learn about Experiential Profiling, please visit our Team Building page.

A Case Study - Leadership AND Teamwork

At Great Tower Camp Site, Windermere, last July we brought together the Sales and Marketing Management teams of Mölnlycke Health Care for 3 days and nights to agree the “shared objectives” of the two teams, develop understanding and empathy with each other’s roles, debate challenges and strategies and develop the team leadership skills of each individual manager.

A 2½ day intensive stand-alone course that equips delegates to be more effective in achieving results from their team, in their workplace, the very next day. Integrating all the unique features outlined above with the added dimension of broadening delegates’ minds by them working with others from a variety of roles and a wide range of backgrounds
